The members of The Diabetic Kitchen extend an invitation to you to join us at our first meeting of the New Year. The meeting will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2016 in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church in New Iberia, LA, 119 Jefferson Street. (across from Derouen’s Cleaners on St. Peter Street).
As we closed out a wonderful year, 2015, we lost another member who transitioned from Earth to Glory. We also used that final meeting to focus on those persons “Suffering and Crying In The Dark,” by offering Prayers, Spoken Words of Comfort, Songs, and in several cases, embraces. Our attempt was to help ease some of the pain, provide a bit of comfort, and hopefully offer a ray of light in the pit of darkness of despair, depression and hopelessness.
For this meeting our Special Guest will be David P. Kobetz M.S., Director of Community Development with Hospice of Acadiana, Inc. David will share with the group first the mission of Hospice and attempt to share some light on several myths circulated about Hospice Care. Next he, David, will share with us the theme “Dying vs Death” and the need to make the Dying Person as comfortable as possible during the twilight of their season in this earth.
With Type – 1, 2, and 3 Diabetes (Alzheimer is considered Type 3), death and dying is something that we’re either faced with personally or as a result of having to care for a dying person. It’s also our opinion that there’s nothing better than Proper Pre-Planning in our attempt to deal with what will probably be a Heart Breaking and Depression Filled experience…”Caring for the Dying.”
We invite you to come in and join us for this very interesting meeting, it free and it’s designed for EACH OF US!
We also extend an invitation, once again, to the L.I.F.E. and V.O.I.C.E.S. Grief Support Group Members along with members of Our Angel Cj-Richard Suicide Prevention Group.
Hope To See You At The Meeting…
